Starting Merit Badges 101

Interested in starting a badge but don't know how?

Merit badges are fun awards to earn but if you don't know how to start one, you won't be able to get the award.

Step 1

Find a badge that you want to start working on. A list of badges with links to requirements can be found here.

Step 2

Ask your Scoutmaster (contact the T618 SMs here) for permission to start the badge so that they can mark it as started in Scoutbook (the advancement management software). You also need a counselor to sign off MB requirements. Your Scoutmaster can help you find a MB counselor.

Step 3

With Scoutmaster approval and a counselor to mark off requirements, start working on the badge requirements.

Step 4

Complete the badge and review the completed requirements with your counselor who will mark the badge as completed so that you can receive the badge.

Step 5

Recieve the badge at your next court of honor!
