Ranks are awards that Scouts can earn. Just like ranks in the military you have to earn one in order to earn the next. Ranks show level of experience, dedication, and Scout spirit.
Scouting's ranks in order of first to last are as follows. Scout, Tenderfoot, Second Class, First Class, Star, Life, Eagle. The badges for these ranks are placed on the Scout uniform and each have individual meanings. For example, the second-class badge clearly shows the Scout motto "be prepared." this reminds us to be prepared.
Ranks can be earned by studying and reviewing info in a Scout book, doing service, camping, physical fitness, and completing merit badges. To complete a rank, complete any requirements for that rank listed in your Scout book and tell your Scoutmaster that you have completed that requirement. Some requirements may say "Demonstrate how to ..." in these cases you can either take a video of yourself demonstrating the procedure or you can directly demonstrate it to your Scoutmaster.
Ranks can be fun to earn! In working on ranks you can learn about new things which can make you smarter and better in school, you can get into college easier, and you can receive an automatic promotion in the army with the Eagle rank.
